Retaining walls, stone patios, pavers, walkways, steps, and drainage for Pleasantville homeowners — from a licensed, owner-operated Westchester contractor.
Leo’s Construction & Excavation Corp. is based in Buchanan, in northern Westchester, and we serve Pleasantville and the surrounding Town of Mount Pleasant. We come out ourselves to walk your property, and Nestor, the owner, is on site for the work itself.
Pleasantville has many older homes on hilly streets, where original stone walls, front steps, and walkways have shifted over the years — and newer homes on sloped lots that need proper grading. Sloped yards are where stonework fails most often: walls lean, patios settle, and water runs toward the house. We build every project with that in mind — solid base, proper backfill, and drainage that sends water away from your foundation.
Whether you want a new patio for the backyard, a safer set of entry steps, or a retaining wall to finally level out a hillside, we’ll give you a straight answer and a fair price.

Natural stone and block walls for sloped yards, built with a proper base, drainage stone, and backfill so they don’t lean or bulge.
Stone patios, interlocking pavers, and stamped concrete that stay level through New York freeze-thaw winters.
Front walks and stone entry steps that are safe, even, and pitched so water doesn’t pool or ice over.
Fixing wet yards, pooling water, and runoff toward the house — at the source, not just the surface.
Concrete foundations and slabs for additions, sheds, and garages.
Cracked concrete, loose pavers, and stone foundations on older homes that need repointing.
We designed these front steps first so the homeowner could see them before we started. Then we formed and poured the concrete, faced the steps with natural stone, set thermal full-color flagstone treads on top, and added a matching flagstone walkway and planter.

On this sloped backyard we cleared and excavated the hillside with our own equipment, then built two retaining walls with Cambridge wall blocks — a high-quality, long-lasting material — on a compacted base with proper drainage. The result: a steep, unusable slope turned into a flat, open yard.

We turned a bare gravel area next to the house into a clean, level patio built with Techo-Bloc pavers — a premium paver known for its strength and beautiful finish. Every paver sits on a compacted base so the patio stays flat and solid for years.

Yes. Sloped properties are a big part of our work — for example, the natural stone retaining wall, tiered patio, and steps we built on a steep yard in Highland Falls (see the before & after on our home page).
Some projects, such as taller retaining walls, may need approval from the Village of Pleasantville. We’ll let you know during the estimate if your project might need one.
